Bendix King Radio Information

I was first introduced to Bendix King radios while participating in fire operations both in Colorado and while I was on a National Type II Fire Team.  These radios are built like bricks, can be programmed in the field with no special tools, and will run all day long on AA batteries.  The newer radios will go down into the Ham Frequencies without much trouble.  For all other models there are programs available that will push the frequency range down, but you end up cutting off the top range of the frequency band.  SO BEFORE YOU MAKE THIS CONVERSION.....MAKE SURE YOU ONLY WANT TO USE THE RADIO FOR THE AMATEUR RADIO FREQUENCIES!!!!!!!!!  Repair parts are readily available for these radios, too.

BK Mic Mod  -- This is a mod I came up with that will allow you to use the external antenna connection without giving up the use of the external microphone.
